IT has been confirmed that a fund to invest almost £20m into Bexhill will go ahead despite fears of it being axed under the new government.
The Rother Labour Group has welcomed news today (Thursday), that the Bexhill Town’s Fund project will be able to continue under the new Labour Government.
The fund is intended to improve the prosperity of the town and empower the community and businesses.
Leader of the Rother Labour Group, Christine Bayliss told Bexhill News: “We welcome the news that the Town’s Fund, funding offered to Bexhill shortly before the General Election with no guarantees of where the money would come from, will be retained and reformed by the new Labour government, with more financial certainty and opportunities for more funding further down the line.
This will allow for some much-needed improvements to Bexhill that until now could not be afforded by local councils. Alongside the extra investment in council services like social care and homelessness prevention, this marks a very exciting new leaf for our local communities.”
The fund will be used to address a range of issues, including social capital development, community health and wellbeing, poverty, affordable housing, and business infrastructure development.
The Bexhill Town Board will also undertake a full economic and social impact assessment for the fund.
