A man who broke into a pharmacy in Ringmer and stole a quantity of controlled drugs has pleaded guilty in court.
Brian Lynch, 42, unemployed, of Langney Road, Eastbourne, was charged with burglary after being arrested by officers responding to reports of a break-in at Lloyds Pharmacy, on Anchor Field.
Police were called at 2.58am on Saturday, February 29, by a member of the public who heard a loud bang and then the noise of the pharmacy’s alarm going off, and could see an intruder inside the premises.
Officers arrived on the scene within minutes and shortly afterwards, spotted a man walking along nearby Lewes Road who matched the description of the intruder as given by the caller.
The man identified himself as Brian Lynch and admitted breaking into the pharmacy. He was also found in possession of a quantity of unprescribed medication.
Lynch appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Monday (March 2) where he pleaded guilty to a charge of burglary other than dwelling with intent to steal. He will be sentenced on March 30.
