Residents told to close windows and doors during property blaze in Eastbourne

Date:

FOUR fire pumps were called to a property in Eastbourne yesterday (Thursday) where outdoor buildings were destroyed.

It happened on Birch Road around midday and crews using breathing apparatus, one main jet and two hose reels were used to tackle the fire.

As a precaution, nearby residents were advised to close windows and doors and for members of the public to avoid the area.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: ‘The damage was limited to outdoor structures. The cause of the fire was accidental, where rubbish had caught alight.”

The crews left the scene around seven hours later.
