JOSH Babarinde, MP for Eastbourne, joined in the valuable work of the volunteers who patrol the streets in the town to help those in need at the weekend.
The Street Pastors take to the Town Centre streets late on a Friday and Saturday night to make themselves available to those who need help – this can include helping anyone who is sick, lost friends or simply someone who needs some water after excess alcohol.
The MP spent time with the volunteers at the weekend to see the work they do in the town.
Josh said: “The Eastbourne Street Pastors are awesome. I loved joining them over the weekend to shadow their work, patrolling up and down Terminus Road, Langney Road, Susans Road, Gildredge Road, Mark Lane, Station Street and more.
“We gave out water and soup to a gentleman who was sleeping rough (as well as to clubbers who needed hydrating). I also thanked police, bouncers and other security personnel for putting themselves in harm’s way for their service to keep others safe.
“And, (famously, for the Street Pastors), we gave out flip-flops to folks who were walking bare-footed because their party heels had given way!< "Thank you so much to all the Street Pastors who volunteer their time to do this work, especially the likes of Lesley and Richard, who I spent the night shadowing.
