HAILSHAM’S biggest celebration of diversity and inclusion officially launched today (Sunday), as organisers unveiled the full plans for this year’s vibrant ‘Stand Proud in Hailsham’ event.
Set to take place on Saturday 28th June at The White Hart in Horsebridge, the day-long festival will mark Pride Month with a packed line-up of live entertainment, family fun and community spirit.
The event, organised by The White Hart in collaboration between Mary Laxton and Colin Mitchell, will run from midday to midnight and aims to bring the entire community together in a joyful celebration of equality, inclusivity and friendship.
Visitors can expect live music, fabulous entertainment and fun for all ages throughout the day.
Local favourites will take to the stage, including the energetic pop-rock group Supersaurus, the soulful Moss Casa and the ever-popular cover band Hot Parrots.
Headlining the event is none other than drag sensation and comedian Fonda Cox, bringing glitz, glamour and plenty of laughs, thanks to sponsorship from Stevens & Carter. There’s also plenty for families to enjoy, with children’s entertainer Awesome Alfie, face painting by Fayz and a dazzling art display from Heathfield Youth Club’s LGBT group.
Keeping the party flowing will be DJ Neil Povey, who not only serves as MC for the day but will also be spinning 80s classics to get the crowd moving. The day will be officially launched by Town Crier Chris Giles at 12pm, adding a traditional touch to the celebration.
Highlights also include a lively Rainbow Bingo hosted by Sam and hot food served between 1pm and 9pm by Sparkles by the Pond.
Now in its second year, Stand Proud in Hailsham is supported by Hailsham Town Council, alongside generous sponsors Harvey’s Brewery and Victoria Lily Events. Entry is completely free and families are welcome to join the fun until the 7pm watershed.
All are welcome during the day with free entrance.
