A SUSSEX seal has taken to the waves again after chilling out for three days while moulting.
British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) had kept a close eye on the old boy while he was resting on the beach.
The seal was named by one of BDMLR’s medics named Stuart.
The team wrote their Facebook page: “It’s nearing the end of the grey seal moulting season when adult seals shed old, worn out fur and replace it with a new shiny coat, keeping it in prime condition.
“During this they will spend time ashore and so our Medics across the UK have been monitoring them, making sure people don’t go too close.
“Stubert, in the video here, is quite an old boy and spent three days in Sussex hauled out not doing very much at all.
“Medics took shifts to make sure he was OK and after his three-day rest he took the long voyage down the beach and became that tiny little speck in the grainy video at the end.
“Good luck on your voyage, Stubert. Thanks to all our Medics across the UK who have spent time keeping our grey seals safe.”
