MP Maria Caulfield is encouraging residents to send comments on an appeal which could see a block of flats built on the Polegate Train Station Car Park.
The original application was submitted in 2022, proposed the erection of a 5-storey apartment block with 36 residential flats on the upper floors, parking and servicing on the ground floor, along with new pedestrian and vehicle access.
Wealden District Council refused the application in October 2023, one of the main reasons for the refusal was that it is currently used as a car park providing a hundred spaces.
Commenting on the plans, Maria Caulfield MP said: “The original plan was rightly refused by the council as it is completely unacceptable for the town to lose this vital parking space. I would encourage everyone to submit comments to the planning inspectorate so that they can be taken into account.”
The deadline for submissions is the 27th May 2024, and residents can visit the Planning Inspectorate website with reference: APP/C1435/W/24/3338370.
