A book of condolence has been set up by Wealden District Council to allow members of the public to pay their respects to Queen Elizabeth who died today (September 8th).
It has been set up in the reception area of the offices in Vicarage Lane, Hailsham and is available for the public to write their messages of condolence in from 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday until 5.00pm on the day following the funeral.
The book of condolence will also be open from 10.00am to 4.00pm on Saturday 10 September.
The Chairman of Wealden District Council said: “It is with great sadness that we have learned of the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. The Councillors and Officers of Wealden District Council are deeply saddened and our thoughts are with the Royal Family at this time.”
Another book will be available to sign at the Hailsham Town Council offices in Market Street from tomorrow as well as Hailsham Parish Church.
Residents may lay flowers at the dedicated locations around the District. In Hailsham, this is at the War Memorial in the High Street.
