BREAKING NEWS: Boy, 12, fell through roof of derelict building in Eastbourne

EMERGENCY services are called to rescue a boy, 12, who fell through the roof of a derelict building in Eastbourne.

Sussex Police, South East Coast Ambulance Service, East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service and Air Ambulance attended the scene in the old Debenhams building in Lismore Road, this afternoon (Sunday, March 3).

The boy has been taken to Kings College Hospital.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “Emergency services were called to Bolton Road in Eastbourne to a report of a 12-year-old boy having fallen through the roof of a building.

“He was taken to hospital by the ambulance service with serious injuries.”

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service posted on their Facebook page at about 1.30pm on Sunday, March 3: “We are currently in attendance at an incident on Lismore Road with two appliances and an aerial ladder platform. A road closure is in place and the surrounding roads are congested, please avoid the area.”

The road is now open again.

A Secamb spokesperson said: “South East Coast Ambulance Service was called to reports of a person having fallen through a roof on Bolton Road, Eastbourne at approximately 11.35am on Sunday, March 3.

“Ambulance crews attended and were joined at the scene by the Air Ambulance Charity, Kent Surrey Sussex. The person was assessed and treated at the scene before being airlifted to hospital in London.”
