A STUNNING new piece of art has been installed in the grounds of the community arts hub at the Old Ambulance Station in Beeching Road for all to admire and enjoy.
The afternoon event on Saturday, April 22 took place to mark the first public display on site of the monumental bronze sculpture entitled Excalibre 7.62 by artist Steven Gregory, who lives in Hastings.
The piece has been installed on the property by the owner and founder of the space, Richard Upton.
Present at the event were Bexhill’s Mayor, Councillor Paul Plim and East Sussex County Councillor, Abul Azad.
He said: “The Old Ambulance Station is an exceptional artist’s hub that offers affordable space for world-class artists and artisans with community engagement and support.
“It was amazing to see this monumental bronze sculpture on public display for the first time at this site.
“The opportunity to hear directly from the artist and celebrate the arrival of this beautiful sculpture was truly exciting.
“I want to thank the organiser for providing this wonderful opportunity for our town and for including our community in this special moment.
“Let’s continue to support and celebrate the arts in our community.”
As part of the arrangement, each artist gives one hour a week of volunteering in the community.
Resident blacksmith and workspace coordinator Ben Wood also opened his workshop to visitors.
