A set of temporary traffic lights at the junction of Station Road and North Street in Hailsham could become permanent, following support from residents.
The lights are part of the on-going Town Centre improvement works, and manage traffic around the diversions due to the closure of George Street. Residents told Councillors the lights have improved the junction and have made it safer when pulling out of Station Road.
Although traffic sometimes backs down South Road past the BP Garage and towards the A22, some believe the lights would make a big difference if they were implemented full-time.
The idea was raised at the recent town council public meeting and Hailsham Mayor, Nigel Coltman refered it to officials in attendance from East Sussex County Council who suggested the idea could be put forward in future meetings.
