PEOPLE in Crowborough, Rotherfield, Wadhurst and surrounding areas without water are being urged to check on vulnerable neighbours and relatives to check their well-being and water supplies.
South-East Water has a priority service which is designed to help people with disabilities, ill health or mental health problems during an emergency.
Those who physically cannot get to a bottled water station, and have the above conditions, should register to get help.
It’s been five days now since more than 2,500 residents stopped getting water – as South-East Water struggles to keep up with demand during the hot period.
Schools have closed and Care Homes are struggling to get supplies of bottled water and fear residents are at extreme risk without fresh running water.
There are calls from Wealden MP Nusrat Ghani and Councillors for more action from the water authority. They say an incident must be declared straight away which will trigger a number of services to help people in the affected towns.
If you would like to register for Priority Services, call the South-East Water Customer Care Team on 0800 952 4000, Monday to Friday between 8am – 7pm.
