TOP Conservative councillors have lost their seats today within Wealden District with the Greens and the Liberal Democrats making big gains, the authority will now be in no overall control.
The Liberal Democrat Party is now the largest party on the council with 13 seats, the Green Party on 11 and the Conservatives with 9, 10 Independents alongside two Labour councillors make up the 45 elected representatives.
The Conservative party has controlled Wealden Council since the first election in 1973 apart from a two year period from 1995, when no party had overall control. The District results are now complete and follow on from the nationwide trend.
The day also showed a lot of movement within Hailsham Town Council too.
For the first time, there’s a Granddaughter, Mother and Grandfather collaboration with Gavin Blake-Coggins, his daughter Alexa Clarke and her daughter, 18-year-old Frankie Clarke all elected to represent Hailsham East as Liberal Democrats.
The Liberal Democrats now have seven councillors, Independent now has four and Conservative has four councillors representing the town.
