Drone footage shows flooded fields and woodlands in Hellingly

Date:

Roads have reopened in Hellingly following yesterday’s heavy rainfall, however, the River Cuckmere has flooded nearby fields as levels rise.

This drone footage taken from the village shows the extent of the flooding – from 400ft, you can see the river flooding fields across the A22 at Boship and then towards Alfriston.

Roads were closed yesterday and a number of vehicles and their drivers were recovered in the village yesterday as more than 50mm of rain fell in just a few hours.

More rain is forecast over the weekend with the worse expected on Sunday.
