THOUSANDS of visitors flocked to Eastbourne seafront today for the first day of the Eastbourne International Airshow which is now in its 30th year.
The heavy cloud and wind didn’t stop the RAF Red Arrows from opening the show with a breathtaking display which celebrated the team’s 60th anniversary.
Today was only the Red Arrow’s only visit to this year’s show, due to other commitments abroad.
However, the weather did prevent the Lancaster from coming to town whilst the Battle of Britain Memorial Fight couldn’t perform due to the conditions. The Mustang also failed to appear due to technical reasons with the aircraft.
There was also a display from an AV-10 Bronco and Jet Pitts whilst the Wingwalkers closed today’s event, which reopens tomorrow (Friday) and continues until Sunday.
The Airshow is free to attend, but visitors are urged to purchase a programme on the day to not only find out the exact flying times, but it also goes some way to supporting the event which is funded by Eastbourne Borough Council.
