Fire destroys double decker bus on A267

PASSENGERS were evacuated from a bus this morning after it caught fire between Hailsham and Horam.

Fire crews were called to the scene at just after 7am (Thursday) on North Street on the A267 from Hellingly.

Three fire pumps from Eastbourne and Herstmonceux got the blaze under control but it completely destroyed the double decker Stagecoach bus. 

The road was closed by Police whilst the fire was put out.

The stretch of the A267 has been closed whilst repairs take place to the surface.

No casualties were reported.
