Former Hailsham Mayor and businessman dies

Ex-Mayor of Hailsham, former councillor and local business owner, Nick Ellwood, has sadly passed away, it was announced this evening (Wednesday).

Nick was the town’s Mayor from 2006-2008 and a local Town and District Councillor for many years – he was more recently known as the owner of large Hailsham-based business, PJ Skips.

The current Mayor of Hailsham, Councillor Paul Holbrook announced in a council meeting this evening: “It’s with great regret we announce the passing of former councillor Nick Ellwood on 19th September. We would like to express our thanks for the work he did and the achievements he made over the years.”

Paul Gibson, editor of Hailsham News, commented: “I’m extremely sad to hear this news. Nick was a great supporter of Hailsham News over the last few years and I personally have memories of when Nick was Mayor, from when I was a local radio reporter. I’d like to pass on my condolences to Nick’s family in what must be a very difficult time.”

Mr Ellwood’s cause of death is unknown to us at this time.
