Residents impacted by dementia are being given a place to meet and talk about their experiences, thanks to a local care home.
Abbots Wood Manor Care Home in Hailsham has launched the monthly Dementia Café at its London Road home in a bid to help individuals and families living with the condition.
The first café meeting will happen on Wednesday 15th March at 10.30am.
Regional Community Relations Lead Richard Hollands said: “The Dementia Café aims to be a real support for the carer and an opportunity to meet others in a caring role to share experiences and information.
“The event will take place every month and include guest speakers offering advice and guidance, as well as informational talks around dementia.
“It will also be a time for carers to relax, knowing their loved one is in a safe and welcoming environment.”
Zoe Sorrell, a member of the Wealden Dementia Action Alliance, said: “It is great to have another activity for our local residents living with dementia and their carers.
“The cafes are a great way for everyone to enjoy time together over lovely tea and cake.”
Members of the community are invited to come along on Wednesday 15th March between 10.30am – 12pm.
There will be an opportunity to make new friends and enjoy the company of others over a slice of homemade cake.
