Hailsham is, once again, showing its best colours, coming to the aid of a family to move into a new house with a daughter who needs 24-hour specialist care.
Coleen and Aaron need help to turn a newly offered house into a safe and secure home for themselves and their children Luke (10) and Marissa (8) and Lorenna (2).
At present, their new home-to-be in South Hailsham, is in need of redecorating, by way of painting and cleaning, as well as having carpets put in to make it safe and comfortable for their family to live in.
It was whilst Coleen was pregnant with her third, she found she was carrying twins. At 26 weeks she suffered a haemorrhage and unfortunately their son, Mason, was stillborn. Luckily little Lorenna was, weighing just 425 grams, able to be saved.
Lorenna has never been out of the woods. She relies on 24/7 care from both of her parents, who have had to leave work during the 18-month hospital stay, and overnight nurses to keep her comfortable.
Since leaving hospital, Lorenna was diagnosed with chronic lung disease heart problems, her airway was 90% collapsed so they had to put a tracheostomy through which she is ventilated and currently lives in the front room of their home in order to keep her equipment, and care, accessible at all times.
Now, having the opportunity to have a slightly bigger and better functioning house, it needs a lot of work done to it before they can move in. It means Lorenna would have her own downstairs bedroom.
Already, a local decorating firm has answered this plea. The professional artist paints children’s murals.
Also a gofundme page has been set up in order to assist. A target of £500 has been set and has raised over £200 in its first 12 hours online. The money will be used to pay for carpet, as well as installation, paints, and deep-cleaning the property to minimise risks for Lorenna.
