Hailsham Tennis Club wins in opening matches

HAILSHAM Tennis Club has started its Horam League season with two impressive wins.

The format for the league is three matches, a ladies’ doubles, a men’s doubles and a mixed doubles.

The first game was against Newick, and the team recorded a 2-1 win. Ladies doubles pair Debbie Hughesman and Hayley Allender won 6-3, 6-3, while the men’s doubles pair, Johan Jooste and Jose Noya lost 5-7, 3-6. But in the mixed, captain Narun Chea and Dom Walter won 7-6, 6-4 to clinch the tie.

The next game was against Cross-in-Hand 2, and the Hailsham team went one better with a 3-0 win. Debbie and Hayley won 6-2, 7-5, and the men were represented by Johan again, this time with his old doubles partner, Neil Downer. They won 6-2, 6-0, and Narun and Dom won with a similar score, 6-0, 6-2.

Captain Narun was very pleased with the double winning start and looks forward to a successful season.
