HAILSHAM hosted Dome Mission at the Recreation Ground, looking to continue its momentum from last weekend’s triumph at Hastings.
This momentum was quickly halted, as Hailsham lost their first 4 wickets for just 28 runs.
However, as last weekend, Matt Dawber came to Hailsham’s aid. Alongside Tom McDonald (27), Andrew Anthony (23) and Tom Hicks (30), Dawber steadied the ship, with an exceptional innings that took the Dome Mission attack around the ground. He was eventually dismissed for an excellent 80, but a flutter of wickets left Hailsham at a precarious 186-8. It was the introduction of hard hitting Diesel Hallett to put on a rapid 30 to propel Hailsham’s innings to 241 all out, which gave the hosts a solid total to defend.
Hailsham started poorly in the field, with a combination of extras and wayward bowing saw Dome Mission fly out of the blocks. The introduction of Shankar Bala and Ollie McDonald helped steady the ship and restrict the runs, as the pair took three wickets each to stunt the progress of the Mission batsmen. The chase remained tight throughout, but Hailsham managed to stand firm, and secured a 37 run win, meaning back to back wins for the Sham.
As was last week, the Choice Medics Man of the Match goes to Matt Dawber, for once again wrestling Hailsham out of a poor situation, and eventually helped Hailsham secure the win.
