Hailsham’s Solly helps Albion head to Wembley

Date:

HAILSHAM’S Solly March is Wembley bound after capping a great week by scoring in Brighton’s five-star FA Cup rout of Grimsby.

The Seagulls winger, who comes from Hailsham, got the fourth goal with a diving header against the League Two minnows.

The 5-0 victory set up a semi-final showdown with Manchester United, who overcame Fulham 3-1 at Old Trafford later in the day.

Evan Ferguson’s double, plus goals by Deniz Undav and Kaoru Mitoma, sealed a comfortable win at The Amex.

March, 28, whose father Steve used to terrorise defences on the wing for Hailsham Town, took his tally for the season to eight goals and is in the best form of his career.

The former St Bede’s schoolboy bagged the winner on Wednesday against arch rivals Crystal Palace in the Premier League – grabbing more headlines as his sweet finish came aptly in the 15th minute on the 15th of March.

His run of form was rewarded by Brighton with a new deal announced on Friday, keeping at the club until 2026 with the club holding a further one-year option.
