Markets in Hailsham are to receive vital support as part of national campaign to encourage residents to shop local.
Wealden Council has announced it is to take part in the ‘Love Your Local Market’ initiative which will give Hailsham’s Farmers’ market a one-off marketing push with an appearance from a group of Morris Dancers.
‘Bright decorations, banner and buntings’ are also promised on 13th May at the town’s Farmers’ Market.
The news comes as the town centre Saturday market reduces in size each week. Traders say more promotion in the town is needed to encourage more people into the town on Saturdays, but roadworks hamper the expansion as people stay away from Vicarage Fields in favour of surrounding towns.
Wealden’s Love Your Local Market campaign aims to attract new traders to the town’s markets and says some may be eligible for a discount to a trade stand. Contact Wealden Council for more details.
