Following the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, Wealden District Council has announced the Proclamation of the new King.
It’ll take place on Sunday 11th September in Hailsham Town Centre where the road is expected to be closed for the ceremony.
After the Proclamation has been read by the High Sheriff at County Hall in Lewes at 1pm, local dignitaries and members of the public are invited to the reading of the Proclamation at district level later the same day at 4pm at the Hailsham War Memorial.
Today has seen local dignitaries and councillors place flowers at the memorial following the passing of Queen Elizabeth yesterday.
Members of the public are invited to lay their tributes to the Queen at the memorial and attend the ceremony on Sunday.
