Fire destroys Hailsham shed company

A Hailsham business has been completely destroyed following a massive fire on Tuesday night (15 August).

Fire crews from across Sussex attended the blaze which was discovered around 10pm at Skinners Sheds based in Diplocks Way.

Local residents were asked to keep doors and windows closed throughout the night due to potentially toxic fumes coming from the building.

The operation was stepped down at 8am on Wednesday (16 August) as crews from Herstmonceux, Eastbourne, Pevensey, Bexhill, Seaford, Heathfield, Uckfield Preston Circus, Barcombe, Broad Oak, Mayfield and Burwash attended to fight the blaze.

There were no reports of any injuries.

Fire crews remain at the scene this morning to make sure the fire is extinguished and Diplocks Way remains closed to through traffic.

Police are appealing for witnesses, anyone with any information is asked to report it online or call 101 quoting serial 1507 of 15/08.
