A MASSIVE Military aircraft measuring almost 150ft wide was spotted flying just above tree tops in a spectacular pass today (Monday).
Known as the ‘Atlas’, the Airbus A400M roared past Hailsham just before lunchtime at 550ft, just the height of 10 double-decker buses.
It flew from its base, Brize Norton in Oxfordshire, across the south coast, south of the Isle of Wight, across to Eastbourne then trimmed the top of the South Downs, past Hailsham, and then on towards Kent.
It was travelling at just over 326mph as it passed the town.
The Atlas is a four-engine turboprop transport aircraft which has replaced the famous C130 Hercules and is often used in air-to-air refuelling missions and is utilised as a versatile logistic and tactical airlifter.
