A new mini-roundabout is currently being installed at a busy junction in Bexhill.
Work started this week, which is being orchestrated by East Sussex Highways to make roads and junctions as accessible as possible and to prevent traffic build-up.
The work is taking place at the junction of London Road and Beeching Road and commenced on January 9.
The work includes the following: Removing and re-siting the pedestrian island in Beeching Road plus kerb work and footway surfacing and street lighting improvements.
In addition, there will be new signage as well as carriageway surfacing and lining.
Now that the work is underway despite the inclement weather, workers are expected to be on-site for between three and four weeks.
For the initial fortnight, Beeching Road will be closed while the pedestrian island is removed and subsequently replaced.
Once that is completed Beeching Road will be reopened so further work can be carried out on the footway in London Road.
On the evening of February 1, London Road and Beeching Road will be closed for a period of 24 hours while the roads are resurfaced and new markings are applied.
