Almost 2,800 booster jabs have been administered in Hailsham, thanks to a team of dedicated staff who have been working evenings, rest days and weekends to get as many residents as possible vaccinated.
Staff at the Hailsham Medical Group in Vicarage Field have been vaccinated residents who cannot get to Eastbourne easily, and since 28th October a total of 2,270 boosters have been put in the arms of patients not only from Hailsham Medical Group, but also Quintins and Bridgeside surgeries.
Steven Seng, GP Partner at Hailsham Medical Group told Hailsham News: “We wanted what was best for our patients and got together as a group, from reception to the lead GP, Dr Spencer and decided, as a group, to give up our own free time. We worked long shifts after the working day finished until 8pm at night, and gave up our rest days and weekends and will continue to do so until we have vaccinated everyone.”
He added: “The government has told us to cancel all our routine appointments in order to meet the vaccine schedule, but we refused to do so. This meant that some people in our surgery are working seven days a week but we refuse to cave in and want to as much good as possible for this wonderful community of Hailsham.”
