WEALDEN District Council’s Planning Committee has greenlit two new Barratt David Wilson Homes developments in Hailsham, which were granted during a reserved matters meeting this morning (22 June).
The schemes, named Cuckoo Fields, were given outline approval in 2020 and are located off Station Road and will provide 372 new homes, of which 35% will be affordable.
Cuckoo Fields will form part of Barratt David Wilson Southern Counties’ 500-home delivery plan for Hailsham, where the housebuilder is already building its Ersham Park development off Ersham Road.
With construction due to begin in late August this year, Cuckoo Fields will deliver a mixture of homes, ranging from one to five-bedroom homes.
Each property will incorporate a minimum of two photovoltaic (PV) panels and built-in electric vehicle charging points.
As part of the planning approvals, Barratt David Wilson Southern Counties has committed to invest over £7m into the local community as part of its Section 106 agreement and Community Infrastructure Levy payments, which will be used to support local primary and secondary education, youth services and other essential services in Hailsham.
