REPRESENTATIVES from Metrobus were in Hailsham this afternoon (Thursday) as part of a promotional roadshow for the new Route 500 service connecting Eastbourne with Gatwick Airport.
The event stopped in Hailsham High Street, giving residents the chance to chat with staff, collect timetables and learn more about the new direct bus link.
Metrobus representatives answered questions from residents about fares, journey times and how the new service will operate when it launches later this month.
The new Route 500 service will connect Eastbourne with Gatwick Airport via Hailsham, Uckfield and East Grinstead, providing what operators describe as a more convenient and sustainable alternative to travelling by car.
The service is being introduced in partnership with London Gatwick, East Sussex County Council and West Sussex County Council.
Route 500 is scheduled to officially launch on May 9, 2026.
