North Hailsham Community Hall finally nears completion

Date:

Five years after plans for a new community hall in North Hailsham were agreed, final preparations are being made prior to its opening.

A series of events have been planned to showcase the facilities on offer in the James West Community Hall, which sits in the heart of the Welbury Farm development.

Residents and potential hirers are being offered the opportunity to meet Town Council staff and discover the large hall with the capacity to seat 200 people, two meeting rooms, large kitchen, store rooms, toilets and changing rooms.

The Town Council agreed to take on responsibility of the new facility, and considered various proposals for the design of the building in 2013.

Deputy Town Clerk & Business Enterprise Manager Mickey Caira commented: “Hailsham has needed a new sports and community hall facility to cater for the increasing population locally.”

“This new purpose-built centre will play a key role in enabling Hailsham to fulfil its potential as a vibrant and inclusive town and we hope that the centre will be a hub of community life, offering a broad range of activities that meet the requirements and interests of sports clubs, businesses, community groups and public sector organisations, as well as private hirers.”

The open sessions are on Thursday 3rd May (6pm-8pm), Friday 4th May (10am-12pm) and Saturday 5th May (10am-12pm).
