Planners have unanimously given the go-ahead for the latest phase of a new housing development near Hailsham.
Wealden District Council has said ‘yes’ to plans for 59 homes on two sites within the Hellingly Green development off Amberstone Road. The plots will be shared between two builders – Bellway and Ashberry Homes – who are already building new homes within the wider neighbourhood.
Outline proposals for the new phase – which occupies land originally earmarked for employment uses – were approved earlier this year, with the recent meeting granting detailed planning permission. Plans include 21 homes designated as affordable housing, public open space and a children’s play area.

The overall Hellingly Green development is on 72 acres of former agricultural land on a site north of Hailsham. Outline plans for the full scheme were given the green light in 2014.

Homes are still being built and sold on phase one at Hellingly Green: Bellway’s Pelham Place development – where two and four-bedroom houses are currently available, priced from £267,995 – and Ashberry Homes’ Magnolia Gardens, where there’s a choice of four-bedroom designs on sale from £419,995.
