Wealden Councillors will discuss plans to build new homes on Blackbrooks Garden Centre in Lower Dicker.
45 homes are being proposed for the land, 35% of which would be affordable housing according to the plans which will be before council at a planning meeting on Thursday.
There’s concerns about the proximity of local amenities and it is recommended improvements to bus services and bus stops locally should be made if it was to be approved.
Campaigners from Save Wealden from Overdevelopment Team (SWOT) say there would be a major issue over flooding and surface water. A spokesperson said: “The site is on heavy impermeable clay and according to the Pevensey and Cuckmere Flood Management Board presents an unacceptable risk unless a raft of complex conditions are put on.”
Outline planning permission is expected to be granted at the Wealden District Council Planning South meeting on 7th October.
Any appeals to the application (WD/2021/0999/MAO) should be sent to the Wealden District Council offices in Hailsham.
