Police disperse residents flouting lockdown rules

Date:

The STAY AT HOME message still isn’t reaching everybody it seems as Police are forced to move on picnickers in Hailsham today.

Lockdown rules say you must not leave your home unless it is for short exercise, work or infrequent shopping trips – however small gatherings of people at the Hailsham Recreation Ground were moved on by a lone officer this lunchtime, telling them to STAY HOME.

Superintendent Graham Barnett said; “We will be patrolling our rural and urban communities over the Easter weekend, as well as travel networks across the county. We will continue our approach of engaging with the public we see out and about, explaining why it is important to follow the government guidance. We will encourage people to do the right thing and stay home but if they don’t follow these rules, we will use whatever enforcement is necessary.”

STAY AT HOME, PROTECT THE NHS AND SAVE LIVES.
