This weekend see’s the official celebrations of the re-launch of Hailsham Town Centre.
Celebrate Hailsham Day has been organised by the Town Council to encourage shoppers back into the centre after enduring almost eighteen months of disruptions which have caused many to avoid the local shops and businesses. Although road works continue in Vicarge Lane, the event is to celebrate end of the High Street phase of works.
Taking place in Vicarage Fields and High Street on Saturday 24th June, the event is expected to see an array of market stalls selling locally sourced foods, gifts and entertainment for children.
Hailsham FM will be providing the entertainment whilst local Air Cadets sell strawberries and Prosecco and the Sussex Community Development Association (SCDA) with their smoothie bike.
Deputy Town Mayor and chairman of the Communities Committee, Councillor Amanda O’Rawe, said: “I’m delighted to be part of organising the Town Council’s summer festivities again this year and I’m sure that the Celebrate Hailsham Day event, which is a special celebration of our town being open again for business, will support our community in all the wonderful things they are doing locally.”
Residents in the town are being encouraged to visit the town on Saturday to show their support for the local shops who have suffered a massive lack of business over recent times. Don’t forget to go along and share your experiences on the Hailsham News and Talk Facebook page.
