SCHOOLS in Lewes district are set to receive a funding increase of £2.2 million in 2024-25, compared to 2023-24.
The total school revenue funding in England is £59.6 billion for 2024-25. As a result, schools will receive the highest ever in real terms per pupil, as measured by the GDP deflator measure of inflation, the routine measure of public spending.
This will mean that a typical primary school with 200 pupils can expect to receive about an extra £35,000 in funding.
A typical secondary school with 900 pupils would receive an additional £200,000.
Schools can choose how they spend the additional funding, for example, on staffing, classroom materials, or other running costs.
Commenting on the announcement Maria Caulfield, MP for Lewes, said: “I am very pleased that this latest announcement means that more money than ever before is being invested in schools, ensuring every child gets a world-class education.
“Schools across the Lewes Constituency work so hard to support our children and set them up for a bright future.”
