Is the High Street safe for older shoppers?
If you’re over 65, you may feel extra concerned about Covid-19. Will it be safe to go Christmas shopping?
The risks of virus transmission on the High Street are relatively low, but for your own peace of mind choose an off-peak time to shop, such as a weekday morning. Take necessary precautions, such as wearing a face mask and regular hand washing. If a shop looks busy, go somewhere else and return later when it’s less busy.
Plan ahead in your gift choices
If you make a list of what you intend to buy people, perhaps with the shop name next to each gift, you can then plan your shopping trip. If it’s possible to order online and then collect then do so. Many retailers in Wealden’s local high streets are offering this service.
With a little preparation and taking necessary precautions, there’s no reason why Christmas shopping in 2020 needn’t be fun and you’ll be bringing some festive joy to local businesses who have had a tough year!
