STAFF at Hailsham skip hire company, PJs, will be joining community group the Wealden Wombles this Saturday, 1 April, to show support for the Great British Spring Clean and join thousands of Litter Heroes. pledging to pick up Just One Bag of litter.
Volunteer litter-pickers play a vital role in removing pollution from our environment and the ‘A22 Big Pick’, as part of the Great British Spring Clean, is one way of proving that small community actions, when taken collectively, can make a huge difference.
Volunteers will be meeting at PJs Recycling Centre on the A22 at Polegate at 12 noon and will be picking along the highway between Cophall Roundabout and Arlington Eagles.
Jacqui Brown, Group Leader of the Wealden Wombles said: “We are delighted to be partnering with PJs on the A22 Big Pick. Unfortunately, litter is a blight that affects every corner of the country and the problem is getting worse. The amount of litter dropped each year in the UK has increased by 500% since the 1960s. It pollutes our environment, harms wildlife and looks awful. The Wealden Wombles work tirelessly to collect litter from roads and public spaces in East Sussex.
We welcome all volunteers to join our tribe of #LitterHeroes – so come along, meet new people, have fun and help do some good for our local environment.”
