South Hailsham to get major road resurface

Date:

IT has been confirmed that two major roads in Hailsham are to be resurfaced which will see a week of closures and diversions.

The works will take place early next month and will see the resurfacing of the South Road bridge and along to the Ersham Road roundabout.

Details of the resurfacing also suggests parts of North Street will be included.

East Sussex County Councillor for Hailsham New Town, Gerard Fox, told Hailsham News: “I have been pressing officers for quite some time to get this and other roads in south Hailsham fixed. I did promise in April that the bridge in particular would be sorted.

I am hopeful that by the end of this financial year South Rd, the Ersham Rd and Diplocks Way will have all received the badly needed attention that they require, supported in part by the extra £31 million of funding that we put into the county highways budget last year.”

The new resurfacing project follows disappointing works in April when motorists were hoping for a full resurface of the pothole littered bridge. Just a few potholes were filled-in during the works.
