The A271 at Herstmonceux was closed this morning after a stolen car crashed and the driver fled the scene.
It happened near to the Power Fuel Station just outside Herstmonceux Village – the road was closed for several hours whilst Police investigated the crash.
Police were called around 6.45am this morning (Friday) to a report of a car stolen from Ashford Road in Hastings. It was seen shortly after 9am heading towards Herstmonceux, where it was then involved in a collision with another car. The driver of the stolen vehicle fled the scene.
Officers attended and conducted an area search. A man found nearby was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and is assisting officers with their enquiries.
Police have not confirmed if a pursuit took place.
