Storm Ciarán in photos: Damage across East Sussex as high winds batter county

EMERGENCY Crews across East Sussex have been clearing up after a day of storm damage across the county.

The Sussex coastline took the brunt of Storm Ciarán as damage was reported in Brighton, Eastbourne and Bexhill. Inland areas saw flooding at the yellow weather warning dropped almost 30mm of rain in just 24 hours.

Firefighters from Hailsham rescued people from their cars which were stuck in flood water on Park Road in Hellingly in the early hours of this morning, whilst trees blocked roads in Eastbourne and Horsebridge.

A yellow weather warning for rain remains in place until midnight tonight (Thursday) and returns on Saturday at 3pm.
