THERE aren’t many populations of small towns that can enjoy watching their own area on the Big Screen, but Hailsham can.
The Moo Man is Steve Hook of Longley’s Farm off Battle Road. In 2013, Trufflepig Films chose him to feature in a documentary about his herd of Friesian Holstein milking cows.
Gareth Jones from the Hailsham Pavilion previews the film which will be showing at the cinema during the Sussex International Film Festival…
The heart of the film is Steve’s remarkable relationship with key members of the herd, who he chats to as he goes about the business of running an organic dairy farm and selling raw milk products, with other members of his family.
It’s beautifully shot and features many lovely views of the countryside around our market town, that many of you may never have actually seen!
The livelihood of Steve and his family is currently under threat because of planning applications to build houses on two of the fields that sustain the herd, so this is a great opportunity to show your support for the Hooks at this challenging time.
This isn’t the first festival that The Moo Man has featured in! It was an Official Selection of the Sundance Film Festival, and that’s one of the world’s biggest!
Come watch the film with Steve and his family at the Hailsham Pavilion on Nov 3rd at 10am. It’s only £3.50 (as are all films over the Festival) and Steve will be taking questions himself at the end.
