Traffic Lights reprogrammed to ease traffic delays

Date:

Motorists should have a shorter wait at the High Street traffic lights, thanks to the issue being raised with East Sussex Highways.

There were calls by Councillor Nick Collinson at the Town’s Annual Meeting held last month as he felt the phasing of the lights kept traffic waiting too long in Vicarage Lane, causing long delays.

A spokesperson from East Sussex Highways commented; “I have been advised by Derek Carter, the Project Director for the Hailsham Town Centre scheme, that further works were carried out on 1 May to resolve the phasing issues of the traffic lights at the junction of Vicarage Road, High Street, and Market Street, as reported by Councillor Collinson.”

Councillor Nick Collinson told Hailsham News and Talk; “Having raised the issue of the phasing of the lights at the Annual Town Meeting in April, I am pleased that this has been acted on promptly and I hope the alterations made will help improve the flow of traffic around this junction.”
