UPDATE: Armed Police called to Hailsham incident

A MAN was arrested following a Police incident in Hailsham on Tuesday (16 April).

Many details are still vague surrounding the incident which saw numerous Police vehicles, the Kent and Sussex Air Ambulance and armed Police all attend an incident on Ersham Road.

A Police spokesperson told us: “Emergency services were called to a concern for a man’s welfare in Ersham Road, Hailsham at around 6pm on Tuesday (16 April). A 38-year-old man was taken to hospital, where he remains.”

Witnesses at the scene told our reporter that a man was seen being led away in handcuffs with a significant injury.

Police later said: “A man was arrested at the scene, but has since been dearrested.”

The Air Ambulance landed at the Recreation Ground on Western Road, but a person was taken by land ambulance to hospital.

There are no more details at this stage.
