Wealden flies flag to support Merchant Navy Day

Date:

To highlight the importance of seafaring to the nation, Wealden District Council flew the Red Ensign on Merchant Navy Day 3 September.

Intended to raise public awareness of the UK’s ongoing dependence on seafarers, this campaign invites Councils and Local Authorities to fly the Red Ensign – the official flag of the UK Merchant Navy on Merchant Navy Day.

Flying the flag with Wealden’s Chairman, Councillor Chris Hardy (pictured centre) were the Standard Bearer for Hailsham Royal British Legion, Steve Leonard, and the Chairman of Hailsham Royal British Legion, Mike Weller.

The Red Ensign will be flying at Wealden District Council’s Hailsham offices all week.
