Auschwitz survivor to speak at special screening event in Hailsham

Date:

STUDENTS from Hailsham Community College will talk about their experience visiting Auschwitz at an event which will be attended by one of the survivors of the atrocities.

Ahead of the 80th anniversary of its liberation, there will be a screening of the blockbuster ‘One Life’ at the town’s historic Pavilion next week.

The audience will hear first-hand experiences from the local students who went to Auschwitz and Birkenau just a few months ago.

The film, staring Anthony Hopkins, Lena Olin, Johnny Flynn, tells the story of Sir Nicholas ‘Nicky’ Winton, a young London broker who, in the months leading up to World War II, rescued over 600 children from Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia.

The evening will also hear from one of the surviving children, Ilse Cranmer who will be answering questions and speaking about her experiences.

Tickets are on sale now and are priced at £5. Click here to book.
