REVEREND Richard Coles, who lives in Eastbourne, has just missed out on clinching the King of the Jungle title.
He won the fan’s hearts by joining his campmates in a number of gruelling challenges to get to the final day on the ITV show, even tackling the famous Cyclone.
Richard, 62, who lives in East Dean, moved to the area after the death of his long-term partner and has become a key figure in supporting the community in the town.
He’s spent three weeks in the jungle in Australia and has been praised for his humour and caring nature.
He formed a unique bond with social media star GK Barry, who says their friendship will ‘last forever’.
The Reverend is a huge supporter of St. Wilfrid’s Hospice in Eastbourne and recently took part in a fundraising bake-off to raise funds.
Richard is also a best-selling author and broadcaster and has published twelve books including the number one best-selling crime series, The Canon Clement Mysteries.
When winning the ‘King of the Jungle’ title, Richard said: “I thought there would be luxury spas off camera- that wasn’t the case. It was much harder than I thought it would be. The best thing was everyone else, we had such a good time.”
