The skates are on after competition winner opens Eastbourne ice rink

Date:

A PUPIL from Willingdon Primary School has cut the ribbon to officially open the Lightning Fibre Ice Rink in Eastbourne to skaters.

The town’s MP, Josh Babarinde and Lightning Fibre’s CEO, Stefan Stanislawski, joined Kiyomi, who won the colouring competition, to open the attraction this morning (Saturday).

Sadly, the day’s skating was interrupted by Storm Darragh which has hit most of the UK.

The organisers announced: “Due to the adverse weather and the advice of our Health and Safety Officer, we will be closing at 12pm (Saturday 7th December), all ticket holders for today will receive a full refund and will be able to rebook for a later date.”

The Ice Rink, which is based outside the Enterprise Centre, will reopen at 10am on Sunday 8th December to visitors.

Eastbourne News, the free community newspaper, has sponsored the safety equipment at the risk rink, whilst Lightning Fibre is the main sponsor for the 4th consecutive year.

MP for Eastbourne, Josh Babarinde said: “Well done to the team at Feastival for bringing the ice rink back for another show stopping year!”
