Emergency Overnight Repairs to High Street

Date:

Emergency temporary repairs are being carried out overnight tonight (2 February) to the High Street following a number of complaints from residents.

Reports have been made of the stones on the flat-topped road humps becoming loose and rising sand has been splashing over the pavements and over shop windows.

A spokesperson from East Sussex Highways told Hailsham News and Talk; “The local highway steward has inspected this location and advised that there are no safety issues requiring urgent repair.

“We will be carrying out repairs to the flat-topped road humps tonight and options are currently being considered to ensure future maintenance and disruption are kept to a minimum.

“Once we have more information on the nature of the work that will be required and timescales, we’ll let people in the town know.”
