Hailsham barn fire still generating 999 calls

East Sussex Fire and Rescue are still receiving calls with concerns over the smouldering barn following yesterday’s fire.

Fire ripped through a farm barn in Harebeating Lane yesterday afternoon (Friday), the scene is still creating smoke which is promoting residents to call 999.

A spokesperson from East Sussex Fire and Rescue has said: “We are still receiving a number of calls regarding the fire at Harebeating Lane, Hailsham. This is now being left as a controlled burn so there may still be smoke in the area and we are aware of the situation.”

Crews from Herstmonceux, Eastbourne and Heathfield attended the scene around 4pm to tackle the large fire. Firefighters used three main jets, one hose reel jet and 1 in 7 foam to assist in extinguishing the fire.
